The Influence of Adult Family Members on Children’s Fast Food Consumption: A Health Belief Perspective Introduction: Lee and Lien (2015) carried out a study on â€Å"The Influence of Adult Family Members on Children’s Fast Food Consumption: A Health Belief Perspective.† It is a common belief that fast food is a health hazard, however, more often than not, parents struggle to limit their young ones intake of such foods. Reasonably, parents are continuously searching for appropriate methods to prevent children from visiting fast food outlets. Apparently, the restaurants are equipped with kid-fun components, free play toys, playgrounds, and children-friendly settings (185, para. 2). Imperatively, there is a rising criticism on fast food restaurants for their processed and quick service meals, high in additives, fats, and calories but with low nutritional value. Food outlets target children with persuasive marketing messages because they are less attached to the traditional fare and they develop diet preferences early. Nonetheless, health experts postulate that targeting children through fast food advertising is unwelcome as it influences their choice of diet leading to obesity.
